  7. Compatibility Statement:
  8. UniLink Write Up*Plus v6.1 accounting package has been tested as compatible
  9. with LANtastic 4.x. This bulletin has been designed to help with the 
  10. installation and setup of this product.

  13. Product Overview:
  14. The Unilink family of Accounting modules have been designed for both the
  15. accounting professional and the single business user.  Modules interact and
  16. include time and billing, general ledger, after-the-fact and active payroll,
  17. accounts payable and receivable, interest calculations and bank account check
  18. writing and reconciliation.

  21. Installing UniLink Write Up*Plus:
  22. The machine on which Write Up*Plus will be installed must be configured as
  23. a LANtastic network server, and will be referred to as the UniLink server.  
  24. The UniLink server and all workstations must use the same network drive 
  25. letter to access the UniLink software and accounting information.  By way 
  26. of example, for this bulletin, the UniLink system will be installed on 
  27. hard drive C: and the LANtastic network drive will be designated as network 
  28. drive U:.  At the UniLink server:
  29.  
  30.    Net Login  \\<UniLink Server> <Username> <Password>
  31.    Net Use U: \\<UniLink Server>\C-DRIVE
  32.  
  33.    Insert UniLink software disk #1 in the floppy drive and from the floppy
  34.    prompt type 
  35.  
  36.    INSTALL n
  37.  
  38.    Be sure to designate the target drive as U: and respond "Yes" to the
  39.    Network Drive prompt.  Follow the remaining prompts as explained in the
  40.    UniLink Installation Guide.  The installation procedure will not ask for
  41.    network type.

  44. Configuration:
  45. After successful installation, perform the following steps at the UniLink 
  46. server:
  47.  
  48.    Cd \UL60
  49.    Attrib +R *.*
  50.    Attrib -R *.DAT
  51.    Attrib -R *.PRD
  52.  
  53.    Start the UniLink accounting software and define the system users and
  54.    optional module privileges following the steps outlined in the UniLink 
  55.    System Administrator's Guide.  It is recommended that DOS Share be loaded.

  58. Access to UniLink from a LANtastic workstation:
  59. To use the Unilink system from a LANtastic workstation, perform the following
  60. steps:

  62.    Net Login  \\<UniLink Server> <Username> <Password>
  63.    Net Use U: \\<UniLink Server>\C-DRIVE\UL60

  68. Security:
  69. Security may become an issue when sharing data among multiple users on a
  70. network.  Following the UniLink System Administrator's Guide, four levels of
  71. security can be implemented, from relaxed to extremely restrictive.

  74. Multi-User Limitations:
  75. System Administrator - It is recommended that only one System Administrator
  76. change the system configuration or security at a time.  It is possible that 
  77. if concurrent modifications are being made, some changes may be lost.

  79. UniLink Client - Only one user may be entering data in a UniLink accounting
  80. client at a time.  Additional users attempting to access a currently selected
  81. client will be locked out with the error message "PR file cannot be opened,
  82. Press any key".

  85. Report Printing:
  86. Before starting the UniLink package, issue the NET USE command through the
  87. operating system to establish a printer connection and inform UniLink 
  88. (through the System Configuration Menu) which redirected port to send 
  89. output to. For example:

  91.    Net Use LPT1 \\<Printer Server>\@PRINTER

  95. This document has been designed to help with the installation and setup of
  96. UniLink Write Up*Plus accounting application system in a LANtastic network
